The Challenge
It was established that quickly scaling project resources to support demand for Softcat’s Professional Services was presenting a problem for the business. Costs of recruiting experienced Programme and Project Management resource was increasingly high and the time spent by senior managers in the recruitment process often wasted, as too much time was taken and it was a costly distraction from their primary role.
Furthermore, the availability of senior project staff on the market was limited with experienced Programme Managers proving difficult to recruit as often already tied up on long term existing engagements. Combined with the additional time required to on board permanent members of staff and get them up to speed, alongside the inherent expense and inefficiencies of contractors, Softcat required a different solution.
